Position Information
- Organising a variety of enjoyable social events for everyone to attend throughout the year, working in collaboration with your fellow social secretary.
- Submitting the annual risk assessment for all possible social events that may take place during the academic year, as well as editing it and resubmitting it if an additional social event not included in the original assessment is organised. You must ensure that all event participants and committee members alike abide by the control measures.
- Submitting separate risk assessments for special events that include but are not limited to: an overnight trip; a large-scale performance; has over 150 attendees; has an audience (events that may fall into these categories can be dance showcases and dance competitions). You must ensure that all event participants and committee members alike abide by the control measures.
- Creating a calendar for all social events, dance events, club nights, etc., so all event details are available for all committee members, and editing it when necessary.
- Booking rooms for all social events on a variety of room booking platforms, and making sure that they are confirmed before a social event takes place.
- Work with the Dance Captains to book rehearsal spaces on campus for any groups preparing for dance showcases.
- Communicating with the committee about details of all events, especially Treasurer and Marketing Director so events can be advertised in plenty of time.
- Attending and leading all organised social events (you may have to take on more of an MC role). Please note that this means you will have to be on campus in advance of the event to set up and after to clean up.
- Creating and maintaining a welcoming, safe, and fun environment during social events.
- Point of contact during social events.
- Purchasing or making supplies, equipment, and prizes for social events.
- You may have to communicate with other societies, university staff, and third parties via email (contact via social media is for the Marketing Director).
- Must be open to receiving and implementing constructive criticism from members and the committee, considering people with all interests in the society.
- Bring to the society events and socials you love and create a welcoming space for people who share the same passion as you!
