As President, you oversee all the jobs that go on in committee and make the final decision on those jobs if needed. You chair committee meetings, run the Facebook page, give notices during rehearsals and speak publicly at our events and concerts. Additionally, you work with the conductors and select committee to pick the repertoire for each term and overall you guide the band’s musical direction over the year. There are fewer specific jobs for this role so you’ll do some ‘bits and bobs’ that aren’t covered elsewhere. Vitally, you are the public face of the band and are the main point of contact for both members and the public. It’s a lot and you need to be organised but it’s incredibly rewarding!
