As the Academic Secretary, you will be instrumental in enriching the academic landscape of the Economics Society through diverse and engaging events. Your role involves planning, coordination, and collaboration. Here’s what you’ll be focusing on:
- Event Organization: Plan and execute academic events, such as speaker sessions, networking, and debating opportunities, ensuring they are relevant, accessible, and offer value to members.
- Speaker Engagement: Contact and invite speakers, utilizing various communication methods like phone, email, or website inquiries, to deliver talks on economics-related topics.
- Guest Logistics: Organize logistics for guest speakers, including travel arrangements, accommodation, and catering if needed.
- Venue and Timing Coordination: Work with the General Secretary to secure event locations and schedule suitable timings.
- Event Promotion: Collaborate with the Marketing Secretaries to effectively publicize events through various channels.
- Sponsorship and Funding: Partner with the Treasurer and Social Secretaries to arrange sponsorships and company affiliations, supporting event funding and networking opportunities.
