Position Information
As President of the Economics Society, you'll be at the forefront of leading and shaping our community. Your role is central to the growth and success of the Society, aligning with our aims and objectives. Here's what the role entails:
- Leadership and Coordination: Guide the Society, its committee, and its members, ensuring adherence to our constitution and regulations.
- Principal Officer and Spokesperson: You will act as the Society's main representative and voice. You will also chair committee meetings, the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs).
- Meeting Management: You must lead Society meetings. If unable to attend, delegate this responsibility to the vice presidents.
- Decision Making: Always act in the best interests of the Society, serving as the primary contact for Society activities.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure that the Society's activities align with The Guild's Byelaws and policies of the Activities team.
- Financial Oversight: Take responsibility for writing and approving financial forms for the Society.
- Annual Reporting: At the end of your term, compile a report summarising the Society's activities and achievements during your presidency.
- Liaison with the Business School: Maintain close ties with the Business School, serving as a communicator and ambassador to foster a mutually beneficial relationship.
- Guidance and Support: Offer advice and guidance to other committee members on events and various Society matters.
