Position Information

As Welfare Secretary, your role is pivotal in supporting the well-being of members and promoting a positive, inclusive environment within the Economics Society. Your responsibilities are diverse, focusing on mental health, inclusivity, and member support. Here's what the role entails:

  1. Welfare Contact: Serve as a primary point of contact for welfare concerns from Society members, providing support and fostering an open and supportive community.
  2. Safe Space Initiatives: Organize safe space drop-in sessions, offering a confidential environment for members to share concerns.
  3. Resource Signposting: Guide members to appropriate support services within Exeter University Wellbeing and the Business School.
  4. Collaboration for Inclusive Socials: Work with Social Secretaries to ensure a balance of sober social events each term, promoting responsible and inclusive socializing.
  5. Positive Mental Health Promotion: Coordinate events with other societies, clubs, and the union to encourage positive mental health and well-being.
  6. Charity and Philanthropy: Plan and execute philanthropic events, such as charity fundraisers, to engage members in community service.
  7. Advocacy in Meetings: Advocate for welfare considerations in meetings, ensuring that the Society’s activities are diverse and inclusive.
  8. Guild Drinking Code Compliance: Promote adherence to the Guild’s drinking code of conduct, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all members.
