Position Information
The Treasurer serves as the chief financial officer and accountant for the Society, overseeing all financial matters. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the society has the finances to fund ongoing events
- Managing pricing of tickets and events, making sure members get good value-for-money while maintaining the financial health of the society
- Setting and managing the annual budget
- Presenting financial reports to the committee and society members
- Reviewing and approving society expenses before submitting them to the Student Guild
- Managing financial agreements with local venues and bands
The role of treasurer requires someone who is attentive to detail and has an interest in understanding the financial side of an organisation. The treasurer must be organised and communicative to properly convey the financial status to the committee and to discuss agreements with venues and bands. This position is an exciting way of learning about the financial workings of a society and how to balance budgeting with providing an enjoyable experience for members.
