Welfare Officer is a very rewarding role on committee. But it is also quite a vague role. What I mean by this is that the role is what you make it. It’s all about knowing when and where you’re needed. Look out for people, be there for people, check in with people. But don’t let it consume you. Set personal boundaries and know what you’re willing to take on. Keeping in touch with other committee members and having your own support system is important. If you’re open, friendly, chatty and willing to listen to people, this is the role for you!
