Position Information

Duties:

  • Ensure the Society’s campaigns develop, nurture and support the aims, objectives and vision of the Society’s outreach and welfare/wellbeing initiatives.
  • Plan and execute career events for members.
  • Organise welfare events, including but not limited to: personal development, mental health, as well as professional training for committee members and Society volunteers, to ensure professional running of the Society.
  • Be responsible for developing infrastructure and channels for members to address their welfare needs.
  • Organise welfare drop-in sessions for Society members and liaise with the Muslim Chaplain.
  • Be responsible for organising and putting into effect the Buddy Scheme at the start of the academic year and work to maintain the scheme.
  • Be responsible for any outreach projects during the year.
  • Ensure there are an adequate amount of volunteering projects for members to get involved in and develop themselves.
  • Liaise with the outreach and wellbeing teams of other Islamic Societies to share ideas and collaborate in events.

 

Requirements: 

  • To have satisfactory project management skills.
  • To be a competent team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • To be very well organised and to be able to work to deadlines.
  • Ideally, to have had previous experience being involved in ISoc campaigns or similar projects.
  • To be passionate about the welfare and overall wellbeing of the ISoc members.
  • To have some Islamic knowledge.
  • To be available to provide support to members.
  • To be generally knowledgeable regarding the relevant topics which relate to this role.
  • To be passionate about professional development and career prospects of Muslim students.
  • To have contacts or willing to cultivate relationships with various companies.
  • To reach out to the Muslim networks of various companies.
  • To be passionate about the health and development of people.
  • To be generally approachable and friendly.
