• Must be going on or coming off an industrial placement to provide relevant insights and guidance.
• Offer advice and mentorship based on personal placement experience, including securing and excelling in placements.
• Hold weekly office hours to support students with placement-related queries.
• Provide tailored guidance on applications, CVs, cover letters, and interview preparation.
• Work with Careers Officers to structure and run the “With Year Abroad and Industrial Placements” panel event.
• Collaborate with alumni and placement students to provide mentorship opportunities.
• Collect feedback from members on their placement experiences to refine future placement initiatives.
• Maintain a record of all placement-related initiatives, partnerships, and events for continuity.
Skills required to succeed in the role
• First-Hand Placement Experience – Strong understanding of the placement process and challenges.
• Mentorship & Advisory Skills – Ability to support and guide students through placement applications.
• Event Planning – Experience in organising placement panels and support events.
• Communication & Engagement – Ability to connect with students, alumni, and industry professionals.
• Organisation & Record-Keeping – Ability to track and maintain placement initiatives.
