VICE-PRESIDENT
The Vice-President’s main role is to support both the President and the committee in all aspects of the society. This person needs to be friendly and approachable, passionate about dance, and committed to the successful running of the society. Sharing the workload is a key element to the role, therefore attendance at all society events is strongly encouraged, along with strong organisational skills. Importantly, the VP is the main point of contact for the committee, so needs to be aware of how each part of the society runs and be able to offer support, dance-related or otherwise, to the entire committee.
The Vice-President’s role includes:
- Designing the society logo which appears on all our social media, stash and branding.
- Organising stash for all the society members, the Competition and Performance Teams, and committee. This involves designing the stash, working closely with both the manufacturers to come up with sellable designs and with the Treasurer to come up with adequate pricing, publicising the stash with the Publicity Officer, along with ordering and selling the stash.
- Planning and running the Term 1 and Term 2 showcases, with the help of the Performance Team Coordinator. This involves booking the venue, liaising with other societies if you choose to collaborate, organising promotional materials with the Publicity Officer, communicating with the coaches, and liaising with the Treasurer to organise payments and ticket prices.
- Organising workshops, charity weeks, and/or alternative classes in different and exciting dance styles, for our members on a few occasions throughout the year.
- Finding new and exciting ways to engage with our members to make the committee and society as accessible as possible, through initiatives such as ‘Star Member of the Week’.
- Managing the society’s multiple messaging inboxes alongside the Publicity Officer and the President, keeping the society efficient. Communication is essential to keep our members well-informed.
- Offering new, creative and practical ways to help the society run more effectively and efficiently, particularly in unforeseen circumstances.
- Communicating effectively with committee members in relation to both dance-related issues and for wellbeing and welfare with the newly introduced Welfare Officer.
- Help to resolve any disputes that may arise.
- Fully support the President and other members of the committee, by having an awareness of the entire society and everything that is taking place.
Being VP can be hard work, but it is so incredibly rewarding!
Due to the nature of the role, it is preferable that you have had experience on (any) committee before. However, if you possess the above qualities and are passionate about Dance Society, we would still love you to apply!
If you have any questions, feel free to message or email the current Vice-President Amber Bragg
