The role of the president in MedSoc is to act as an interface between students, committee, the HLS faculty, the Student Guild, and other companies participating in MedSoc events. The role is one of responsibility, organisation, and delegation. As president, you hold responsibility for the members and societies wellness and behaviour. Organisation is paramount in making sure the society runs smoothly, and that all activities from socials, to trips, to teaching, to balls go as well as possible! Most importantly, you must delegate. It is impossible to simply do all tasks, which is why your wonderful committee is there. It is your job to divide up jobs/tasks, and organisation. A degree of discretion is also needed as you will be dealing with some confidential meetingsYou should have a good knowledge of the guild’s workings, and what MedSoc is all about, and who it is for. The skills you will develop in this role, along with the confidence and people you meet, will stay with you for life.
