Being President/Artistic Director of ShakeCo is an exciting opportunity to understand the inner workings of staging Shakespeare! As President, you are responsible for the running of the society as a whole. This includes running committee meetings, delegating responsibilities to committee, and communicating with the Students’ Guild. Perhaps more excitingly (whoops), as Artistic Director you are also responsible for the society as a theatre company! This includes helping the entire production process from choosing the show, all the way to closing night! You are also responsible for representing ShakeCo in the wider T@E community, including in weekly meetings with the other Presidents of the theatre societies. Above all, the role of President/Artistic Director is incredibly rewarding: my favourite memory was watching our first auditions and production interviews this year, as it was just so exciting seeing your society members’ work come to life!
