I act as a trusted and approachable point of contact for any member of the cast, crew or committee who may be experiencing issues affecting their work or wellbeing within a EUTCo project. I regularly check in with individuals across the company, offering a supportive presence and maintaining a positive, reassuring energy throughout rehearsals and production periods. My role is to provide a safe, confidential space where people feel comfortable discussing concerns, including more personal challenges that may arise during the process. While my role is not to be a counsellor to individuals, I aim to foster trust, listen without judgement, and help ensure that everyone feels supported, respected and able to contribute fully to the company. Throughout performance periods, the welfare officer also provides practical support wherever needed – whether that involves helping to set up or take down set, assisting with cleaning or stepping in to lend a hand to ensure everything runs smoothly. Serving as welfare officer for EUTCo has been an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience, and I have truly valued the opportunity to support such a dedicated and talented company.
