Election for the position of Academic Officer in History Society
Academic Officer
- Organising a minimum of two academic talks a term with external speakers. This should be on top of academic talks arranged by the History Society, delivered by internal speakers- for example, members of the History department. This is the most important aspect of the role- something the society is looking to expand upon in the new academic year.
- Focusing on covering historical months and days such as Black History Month and LGBTQ+ Month. This would require collaboration with the publicity officer to ensure these days are marked on the society's social media.
- Ensure good relations with the department is maintained.
Academic Officer is a VERY important position- one which will be very active in the 2026/2027 academic year as the society aims to expand our academic offering. Maintaining relationships with the department and organising academic talks requires a high level of organisation. In 2026/2027 the time commitment for this role is likely to be 4 hours per week.
