Such an academically ambitious Society demands that we have a second (and equally important) Academic Officer to work alongside the current one. What is your core responsibility? Speaker events. The IR Society seeks to provide a platform for academics and professionals, so a substantial number of speaker events will require the dedicated organisation of such events. Your second most important role would be to organise sessions that focus on the academic development of members. A suggested new structure for such events has already been developed by the current committee, including to continue academic drop-in sessions. A valued attribute is appreciating the importance of research skills theory in the discipline. Above all, one must be especially passionate about the discipline and spirit of International Relations (this applies to all roles but especially this one).
