Position Information

Overview:

Responsible for managing the online team. This includes creating content calls, managing the online presence of the magazine and liaising with local venues and opportunities to secure RAZZ coverage.

Details:

The role of Online Editor-in-Chief requires a lot of organisation and time management to keep on top of deadlines and manage a constant flow of content, but it is a very rewarding position. As the Online Editor-in-Chief of RAZZ, you work with the Deputy Online Editors to produce content calls for writers twice a term. This requires keeping up to date with general cultural debates to produce relevant content, and trying to be creative by offering a range of content to writers. You also organise press passes and interviews, which you’ll sort by contacting press and media representatives. We receive emails all the time offering press passes for concerts, theatre, restaurants, etc, so you have to keep up to date with all emails coming through and decide which opportunities to pursue. You edit all articles which are sent in, on average about one every day, and publish them on our WordPress site. This means you’ll develop an understanding of how to use and maintain a WordPress site. Editing is the biggest part of your job, so you’ll need to be very confident in your written English skills and your ability to edit and proofread the work of others. You’ll also be sharing all articles on our social media websites, so you’ll learn a lot about the most effective ways of promoting our articles. As the Co-President, you work alongside the Print Editor-in-Chief to oversee the whole society: running committee meetings, planning Welcome Week events, organising socials, trying to get new members, and deciding on the general aesthetic and vibe of RAZZ. Being Online Editor-in-Chief is a lot of work, but it is a really fun position because you develop so many skills from it and receive a lot of opportunities.
