Position Information

The President is the leader and representative of the society, responsible for ensuring its smooth operation, financial stability, and continued growth. This position requires leadership, organisational, and communication skills key to impacting the society’s success. This role is perfect for someone who is organized, proactive, and confident in leading a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Budget Holder – Oversee society finances to ensure responsible spending and long-term sustainability. Ensure that there are always funds available
  • Society Management – Maintain the society’s reputation, ensuring its development and smooth operation. Constantly thinking of new ways to get more members
  • Committee Leadership – Organize and lead committee meetings, keeping discussions productive and focused. Weekly meetings to ensure everyone is on the same page
  • Team Coordination – Ensure all committee members are fulfilling their roles, offering support and accountability. Tasking committee members with things to do to keep the society running
  • Meeting Planning – Set agendas and discussion points before committee meetings, to ensure that everything important is discussed
  • Decision-Making – Be fair, unbiased, and willing to compromise while making key decisions for the society. Well-thought out decisions are important, rather than impulsive, rapid ones
  • Engagement & Growth – Drive initiatives to expand the society’s reach and impact in the neuroscience community in Exeter. Think of new ideas constantly, whether for events or new incentives for members
  • Documentation & Compliance – Ensure the society follows any required policies, deadlines, and official procedures. Fill out any required paperwork
  • Time – This position requires ALOT of time and thinking
