Position Information
Duties
- To ensure student views are represented in delivering an exceptional student sports experience, working with the sports management team and Athletic Union.
- To deliver on student priorities for sport, being accountable to AU Council.
- To promote and bring about change based on changing student needs.
- To maximise opportunities for participation and minimise barriers to physical activity and sport, including leading on initiatives to increase opportunities for all students.
- To work with the Sports management team and Athletic Union on all sports-related matters, to ensure that all actions are representative of the student voice and student experience is at the heart of all decision-making.
- To develop and support a comprehensive training programme for all student club officials via appropriate induction, courses, and mentoring
- To oversee and maintain relationships with key partners; including Timepiece Ltd and Playerlayer.
- To represent the University at all S.W. Region Representative Committees of BUCS and the BUCS AGM and Conference Council.
- To work closely with the Welfare Consultant (Sport) to ensure all club welfare officers, receive appropriate training and are supported in their work within their constituent clubs.
- To work closely with the Global Advancement team to support alumni engagement and funding opportunities for sport.
- To produce the Athletic Union Section in the Freshers’ & Returners’ Handbook
- Ensure coverage of sporting events and activities across all social media and print
- To organise the Athletic Union Fresher’s Fair
- To work with the University’s Equality, Inclusivity and Diversity team to ensure that all sport activity and programmes align with University’s broader strategic aims.
- To support Athletic Union Staff members with the internal organisation and administration of all constituent clubs
- To organise Annual Events and Tournaments to promote student sport including; Grecian Shield, Athletic Union Dinner, Varsity Matches and Annual Colours and Awards Reception.
- To facilitate student working groups, which seek to benefit the sporting experience of all students.
- To work closely alongside the Guild
