The Social Secretary will share responsibility for building a welcoming, active and inclusive SASOC community by planning a varied programme of socials and opportunities for members to meet, connect and enjoy being part of the society.
SASOC will have two Social Secretaries, who will work collaboratively to plan and deliver the society’s social calendar throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
Key Responsibilities
Work alongside the other Social Secretary to plan and organise a varied programme of social events throughout the academic year.
Develop both larger events and smaller, more relaxed socials that appeal to different members of the SASOC community.
Bring forward new and creative social ideas based on member interests and feedback.
Coordinate event logistics including venues, timings, ticketing, bookings and other arrangements.
Liaise with venues, external organisations and other student societies where appropriate.
Work closely with the Marketing team to promote socials and maximise awareness, engagement and attendance.
Divide responsibilities effectively with the other Social Secretary to ensure events are well organised and delivered.
Gather feedback from members and continuously develop SASOC's social offering.
Help ensure SASOC socials are welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for all members.
Support major SASOC events, collaborations and wider committee initiatives throughout the year.
Contribute actively to the wider running and development of SASOC as a committee member.
The ideal candidate will be creative, approachable, enthusiastic and organised, with strong communication and teamwork skills and plenty of ideas for bringing people together. They should be comfortable working collaboratively with the other Social Secretary and wider committee.
