The Musical Director holds a critical role within the society, overseeing all musical performances and activities. They play a key part in planning and organizing these performances, collaborating with other committee members to select suitable music and coordinate rehearsals. Additionally, the Musical Director conducts auditions and carefully selects performers for small band events, ensuring the highest level of musical talent and performance quality. 
In their role, the Musical Director establishes effective communication and coordination with venues and technical staff to ensure smooth and successful performances. They also take on the responsibility of managing the society's music library and maintaining accurate records of past performances. If necessary, a librarian can be appointed to assist with these tasks. 
Furthermore, the Musical Director provides guidance and support to other musicians and performers within the society. This may involve running sectionals and sessions to work on areas such as improvisation and fostering growth and development among the members. They also extend their support to the AGFB Band Director if needed, working together to achieve the society's musical goals. 
Ensuring the continuity and growth of the society's musical capabilities is also a priority for the Musical Director. They oversee the establishment of a deputy list and ensure that there are enough players available to audition for the following year, maintaining a sustainable pipeline of talent and preserving the society's musical legacy.
