What this job really looks like:
Freshers’ Representative (often referred to as “Frep”) is our most traditional term 1 election role. Your biggest responsibility is to represent new committee members (who did not get to vote in last year’s elections) to the rest of the committee. There is a lot of leeway in how you do this and previous Freshers’ Representatives have used surveys, drop-ins or just frequent chats with members at events to gauge their concerns and priorities. Beyond this Freshers’ Representatives are also given a range of responsibilities in different departments to support the society’s operations and let them develop a range of skills. These responsibilities are flexible but currently, a major priority will be supporting the show debate team organising term 2 events. You will also likely help with some of our major competitions and socials when those teams are under pressure. Desirable traits for this role include: adaptability, friendliness and an ability to communicate with all members and committee and a willingness to work hard in a range of roles. (Note we are electing two Freshers’ Representatives)
