What this job really looks like:

Deputy Chairs work incredibly hard in the running of our Friday show debates programme. As a member of the Friday Team, you will work with the Chairs and fellow Deputy Chairs in the organisation and execution of Friday show debates. In practice, this means you will be involved in researching and emailing speakers for our upcoming show debates. This is an incredibly important task within the team, as this is how we find and secure our speakers - it can often take a lot of hard work, dedication and resilience. Further to this, you will be part of the team which organises everything which goes on behind the scenes on Friday evenings - from walking speakers up from their hotel to checking tickets on the door, setting up Amory Moot and sitting in on speaker's briefings. The job is a demanding but rewarding experience, resembling an incredible opportunity to network with high-profile public speakers and improve your organisational abilities. Desirable traits for this role include: a strong work ethic, resilience, the ability to work under pressure, the confidence to communicate with prominent speakers and uphold the society's image, strong written communication skills, a good understanding of current affairs and strong research skills
