Official Remit: 

“Shall be responsible for supporting the Publicity Secretary and Communications Officer in managing the society’s media presence, including but not limited to society social media, publishing of recorded society events and maintaining the society website. They will fill in for the aforementioned committee members when needed and help ensure events are well publicised, recording content is properly processed and social media messages are responded to quickly” 

What this job really looks like: 

Media secretary is a new role we are running to help support our publicity secretary and communications officer. As a result, it is more difficult to describe what this role will look like in practice and it will be guided by the needs of those two committee members. The goal, however, is that this position should take some of the pressure off of our current team by taking on a range of smaller jobs and at times filling in for the current committee members producing publicity and processing recordings. Beyond that, we hope that this role will help us take advantage of a range of additional media opportunities and grow our brand and membership. It is important that you have good technical abilities with video editing and software such as Canva as well as confidence in using professional social media. Other desirable traits include creativity, a passion for media and brand and an ability to communicate in a friendly effective manner.
