Position Information

This is a role within Shotgun that can be considered to be less task-heavy, but undoubtedly an important and rewarding one, which requires you to be present throughout the year as a point of contact for members and committee on any welfare concerns they may have. As Welfare Officer, your main priority will be ensuring that a calm and trusting environment is kept for members and will need to be on call when needed to answer any questions.  Despite not being a significantly big role in terms of the tasks you carry out, being Welfare Officer is a duty which holds a lot of responsibility, as you will be the first port of call for members should they need you. You will obtain knowledge of welfare services available to members, that you may relay if needed, and will need to be able to assist them wherever possible. The Welfare Officer should be a kind and caring figure who will represent the team’s wishes to keep members at a priority.  Establishing a good relationship with your committee and members is key to this role, especially with teams in each production, as you will be working closely together in what can become incredibly stressful at times for all. Your main duty will be to support everyone throughout the process, and offer guidance.
