Benchball Society Elections 2026-27

  • Benchball Society

Election Information

It's that time of the year again- committee elections are now open for 2026-27.

Benchball has had another fantastic year, welcoming plenty of new faces to the society as well as familiar ones returning, and hosting a wide range of brilliant events along the way. From friendly tournaments and pub quizzes to charity fundraisers and our fixture against Bournemouth, it’s been a year to remember. And who could forget Varsity, now just a few weeks away (hoping to win four times on-the-trot!)

We are looking for people who LOVE benchball, and want to make it as enjoyable as they have found it this year for those who will be joining, and returning next year. Enthusiasm, kindness and being hardworking are qualities all Benchball's committee members should strive for.

How does the election process work?

  1. Apply with a short manifesto

Firstly, you will need to apply here to the role(s) you are interested in. You may run for a maximum of TWO roles, if you are elected for both you must choose one of these two roles and the candidate with the next most votes will be elected into the other role.

Remember:

  • Social Secretaries run in pairs → nominate both your names together on the application
  • There are two Vice Captains, but two individual applicants apply for these.
  • President can also be run for as a co-presidency. Please make this clear when running as a pair.

More candidate information can be found in the candidate handbook, provided to us by the Guild: 6970e00720a2de56a55d300e_FINAL+Candidate+Handbook.pdf

2. Presentation in our AGM

AGM Date and Time (provisional): Monday 23rd February (Guild Theatre)

Once you have nominated yourself for a role in the elections, you should then prepare a short (approx. 5 or less minutes) presentation on why you are running for the role. Make sure to introduce yourself, explain why you are running for the role/why you're a good fit, and any plans you have!

If you have any questions regarding the AGM, please reach out to Theo in person, via email (twp217@exeter.ac.uk) or WhatsApp.

During the AGM, there will also be a short question panel at the end, where any members and current committee members will be able to ask questions to the candidates.

…and that's it! If you are successful in getting the role, then throughout Term 3, the current committee member will provide training and a formal handover. There is also additional training available, which will be delegated among the committee by the elected President accordingly.
