"As social secretary, you play a crucial role in fostering a sense of community amongst the members of PsySoc by planning and hosting engaging and enjoyable social events for our members! It's important to organise socials suited for everyone; club nights are always a go-to, but make sure you give society members the opportunity to socialise in more casual (and alcohol-free) settings too. It's important to be creative! The best way to engage with members of the society is to offer new and interesting opportunities for them. A key part of being social sec is creating relationships and communicating with venues, companies and other societies to plan and collaborate on events, so make sure your communication skills are top notch! This role also requires a lot of coordinating - planning events, coordinating with 3rd parties and other committee members, budgeting and managing FIXR events require strong planning and organisation skills. Most importantly, being social sec is about really caring for the members of PsySoc; it’s important to be enthusiastic about socialising and meeting new people, and keeping the members best interests at heart through garnering feedback from events to ensure any future events are the best they could be
