AGM is back!
It's time for you all to start thinking about any roles you’d like to put yourself forward for (see the descriptions below). Being part of the committee is a whole lot of fun, is a great opportunity and will also look good on your CV. You will need to create an original and creative manifesto and submit it before the deadline, and the event page is up on Facebook with more details and examples of manifestos. You will also have to give a speech at AGM and then receive some light grilling on your future prospects.
Here are the role descriptions:
President(s) (1/2)
Elected to Lead, not to Read. The President(s) are in charge of running the society and making sure it is successful. They are also responsible for making sure all other members of committee are doing their job. They are in charge of organising the Summer and Winter Balls and planning the annual trip abroad! They will also be a point of contact for the Physics department and the IOP, as well as the Student’s Guild.
Vice-President (1)
The Vice-President’s main role is to produce, advertise and sell the Society’s stash that year. This involves conversing with manufacturers to buy the items, deciding on the theme/slogan and organising its sales on the society’s Fixr page. Also in charge of the Society Social Media, this includes contact with the social secs to find out details and making posts to go up on the Instagram. They will also support and provide a second opinion on the President(s)’ decisions, as well as help out with any planning of the Balls and Trip Abroad.
Treasurer (1)
Must excel at Excel. The Treasurer is in charge of all the money the society has. They will work with the President(s) and they will create budget sheets for any events (Balls, socials, sports competitions, etc..) and anything being sold through the FIXR. They will also be in charge of any purchases made by the society.
Welfare Secretary (1)
In charge of the wellbeing of the society. Controls the Physoc wellbeing social media and is in charge of organising welfare events and socials. Will also be a point of contact for the Physics department’s pastoral mentors. This is a very important role!!
Social Secretary (2)
Creative. Visionary. Organises the fortnightly socials that makes the Society the force it is. Is able to make contact with all the venues in Exeter in order to get the best deals and have the most successful socials. Will help plan after parties for the balls.
Sport Secretary (2)
Leads the intra-mural sports teams which includes setting up and submitting teams to the AU, selecting reliable captains, and booking training sessions throughout the term. They will also run taster sessions in fresher’s week. On top of this, organises the sports socials and any extra sporting events throughout the year. It also includes running the Physoc sport Instagram and writing match reports.
Year Rep (1 for each year)
Year reps will advertise all Physoc events (Balls, socials, sports competitions, etc..) and plans to members. They will help to organise table plans for the Balls and provide a point of contact for each year’s members to relay any comments or queries from our delightful members to the committee. Year reps will also act as a point of contact for well=being in the society.
