Position Information

Overview:

Responsible for managing the print team and overseeing the production of the print editions. This includes the creation of content calls, the editing of articles and working with the design team to finalise the design of the magazine.

Details:

The role of Print Editor-in-Chief is a proactive and rewarding one. The RAZZ Print Team produces, on average, one print issue per term, each based on a chosen theme. You’ll have to devise content calls (alongside your Deputy Print Editors) that appeal to both members and readers, as well as work with the Creative Director on the aesthetic of the magazines. This very much requires a creative flair, but you must also have formidable organisational skills for the administrative side of things – securing advertisers with the Treasurer; collaborating with other societies; interacting with PR agents for interviews; submitting the order with the printing company, etc. You then must develop pitches with your writers/illustrators and edit the articles once they are submitted (requiring confident written English skills and stylistic knowledge). You’ll also work with the Publicity Officer and Social Secretary in ensuring that the print issues and launch parties are well-organised and well-promoted to ensure that the readership sustains and grows. During the printing process, it can be an intense, stressful time, but you are also able to have more flexible deadlines around everyone’s academic work, unlike the online side, which is more continuous.  As the Co-President, you work alongside the Online Editor-in-Chief to oversee the whole society: running committee meetings, planning Welcome Week events, organising socials, trying to get new members, and deciding on the general aesthetic of RAZZ. You’ll need strong leadership and communication skills to lead the committee and collaborate with the online side of RAZZ. If you are a creative innovator, have strong organisational skills and management prowess, then you can help continue to RAZZ flourish.
