The integral role of the Social and General Secretary has so much potential now more than ever. Both parts of this role are of equal importance, coming with equal responsibility but also equal levels of creativity and fun. On the social side, you will be responsible for creating, pitching, and organising ideas for social opportunities within the society, ranging from smaller-scale events (such as overseeing cast/band/prod socials, organising fully company socials, even casual pub trips etc...) to the larger whole-society events (such as Winter Gala and End of Season Dinner). Regarding the general side, you are in charge of taking minutes during committee meetings so that the ideas and decisions discussed are kept in a safe place for later reference. It is also part of your job to be a helping hand to other committee members and members of the society, contributing to the efficient running of the society and doing what you can to make other members’ lives easier, particularly if they have a lot to do and would appreciate sharing the workload – a problem shared is a problem halved.
