The role of Footlights President is possibly one of the widest-reaching and uniquely rewarding opportunities you can have within a society. It’s a role that you can make your own, where you can play to your own strengths and learn new things, whilst working with a wide range of incredible people to make the Footlights experience the best it can be. You and the committee provide reassurance to the whole society, supporting and encouraging members to push themselves and try things they’d never thought they’d achieve at uni (which is one of the most rewarding aspects!). It’s tricky to summarise what this role involves, as every Footlights President will approach the wide scope of responsibilities differently according to their own skillset, with personal skills (communication, patience, approachability and good organisation/management skills) being what contributes most to success in this role.
