Position Information

Duties:

  • Support and deputise for the President, providing leadership and direction to the other Committee roles where required.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day running of the society.
  • Support the other Committee roles to deliver their remit and work to ensure all Members are engaging with the Society.
  • Ensure that the needs of all members of the Society are met and their views represented.
  • Monitor the activity of subcommittees (Brothers, Sisters, Marketing) and take charge of their development and delivery.
  • Be the main point(s) of contact for any queries, criticism or other such issues brought forward by the Members or Muslim Students of the University of Exeter.
  • Aid the President with the spiritual development and welfare of the Committee.
  • To ensure that the Society remains Islamically correct and balanced in all their activities.
  • To ensure a friendly and professional environment is maintained as far as possible and that relations between committee members remain friendly, professional and appropriate.
  • To take a personal interest in the wellbeing of the committee, ensuring that no one is being overburdened with work, getting stressed out or are compromising their education due to their work.


 

Requirements:

  • To have mentoring and leadership skills. 
  • To be approachable and have interpersonal skills. 
  • To have exemplary manners. 
  • To have a balanced mindset, such that they are able to see both sides of an issue. 
  • To have had previous experience being involved in Isoc work, perhaps sitting on a previous committee or volunteering.
  • Ideally, to have good public speaking skills.
  • Ideally, to have a reasonable level of knowledge of Islam, perhaps having formally studied to some level.
  • To be flexible with their time.
