Position Information

Duties:

  • Oversee the Marketing team and provide training where necessary.
  • Set the timeline for the ISOC’s media and marketing initiatives throughout the year.
  • Formulate the overall marketing calendar and schedule, organise delegation of roles between the marketing team and ensure all roles are being fulfilled by chasing up team members when necessary. 
  • Manage the ISOC website and ensure details are kept up to date.
  • Work alongside the treasurer to make the society marketable to and investable by sponsors.
  • To oversee the production, printing and distribution of all marketing materials for events be that leaflets, posters, emails, social media posts or other means. 
  • To ensure that the ISOC is always striking the best balance possible between low cost and quality in the production of all marketing materials. 
  • To chase up committee members with regards to preparing content for marketing events an appropriate length of time in advance, but at least two weeks for significant events. 
  • To plan out an effective branding for campaigns such as Charity Week or Discover Islam Week to ensure the ISOC achieves the best impact it can from campaigns. 
  • To oversee the shaping of the brand and image of the ISOC to be in line with what the ISOC ideally is envisioned to be as an organisation. 
  • Work on initiatives to increase engagement through the platforms available to the Society.
  • Manage the marketing output of the Society via all the available platforms consistently.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that posters and marketing material are of adequate standard, and are created for all Society events.
  • Ensure that all Society events and initiatives are well publicised by the rest of the Committee, particularly with regards to social networks, the Society website, campus publicity and word of mouth publicity.
  • Ensure talks and events are well covered in terms of recordings and photos where appropriate and relevant recordings/pictures are uploaded onto social media/YouTube by the Marketing team.

Requirements:

  • To have good organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines to ensure events achieve maximum publicity via being marketed well enough in advance and effectively. 
  • To be able to see the ‘bigger picture’ in terms of how others view the Isoc, and where the image of the Isoc is lacking or deviating from its intended image.
  • To be active in looking for new marketing opportunities for the ISOC. 
  • Ideally, to have some previous experience in marketing, but this is not essential.
  • Ideally, to have prior experience at poster design, web design or something similar, although this is by no means essential. 
  • Confident and imaginative.
