About Us

Aims and Objectives:

  • To produce theatrical productions of an extremely high, almost professional standard (2 full musicals plus at least 2 Spotlights shows per year). Shows selected to be performed are usually from Broadway or the West End and have an emphasis on singing and dancing.
  • To provide weekly Workshop sessions for all members.
  • To offer at least 3 socials per term for all members (of which at least 1 does not involve alcohol).
  • To create and maintain an environment where all members feel welcomed, valued and encouraged to develop their talent (both performers and those who work offstage).

Spotlights Show Choir is Exeter’s only musical theatre show choir, performing hits from a wide range of musicals.

A great way to be involved with the society throughout the year is through Spotlights Show Choir, Exeter's only musical theatre show choir, performing hits from a range of musicals. We perform in two Exeter venues, and then tour to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! Our show, 'A Night at the Musicals' has sold out at the Fringe festival for 3 years running!

All our members can also get involved in our weekly workshop classes that combine all the joy of musical theatre whilst learning the ins and outs. Taking part in sessions targeting different areas. For example, Ballet Technique sessions, or help with sight reading music!

Becoming a member of Footlights provides opportunities to be involved in the cast, band, production, stage and technical teams of our shows, as well as stash, socials throughout the year and being part of the biggest musical theatre society on campus!
