Welcome to the Exeter English Society, the best academic society! 

English Society is a fun and enthusiastic community that aims to foster wonderful relationships among like-minded people from various different backgrounds, regardless of the subject you study. 

Here are some of the highlights: 

REGULAR SOCIALS

We host regular social events throughout the year at venues like Revolution, offering a massive 40% discount on food and a variety of drink deals. However, that's not all – we also organise brain-twisting Pub Quizzes, mouth-watering Firehouse Pizza Nights, and one-of-a-kind Batty Bingo socials. 

But there's more to us than just that. We embrace inclusivity with laid-back picnics, bookswaps, and crafty bookmark-making sessions. And let's not forget about our Instagram-worthy Christmas and Summer Balls, held at stunning venues like Exeter Castle and Reed Hall. 

Our socials provide an excellent opportunity to make close friendships that will last throughout university, while also creating incredible memories along the way! 

STASH 

Do you want to be the most stylish person in Exeter? Then join us for the best stash any society has to offer, from quarter zips to tote bags. Our personalised jumpers will make everyone take a second look as you walk up Forum Hill! 

INTRAMURAL

We also boast the best netball squad around – the Tequila Mockingbirds. Join them every Sunday for fun and light-hearted netball games against other societies. It's a great way to boost your fitness, wellbeing, and meet new people! 

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 

New for this year: we are establishing an Alumni Association. Have you ever wondered what your degree can offer you after university? All the talk from Rishi Sunak about the supposed "low value" of English degrees can be put to rest as you meet graduates who hold an exciting range of jobs. 

SUPPORT 

We also collaborate with the Career Zone and English faculty staff to ensure that everyone has access to the best resources and gets the most out of their degree.
