Aims and Objectives:

• Host a range of socials over the academic year on a regular basis, culminating in our two flagship events, the Christmas and Summer Balls.
• Unite Maths students through common academic interests, sport and social events.
• Provide members with the best opportunities during and after your degree.
• Host speakers throughout the year from relevant companies such as the Met Office, EY and Zurich.

We are Mathsoc, one of the university’s largest academic societies and the organisation dedicated to Maths students. We bring maths students together predominantly through socials and sports, but this year we’re hosting events with a range of other societies and clubs. We are an inclusive society; we will host a variety of events, so there is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the year. Mathsoc membership entitles you to discounts on our ticket prices and activities! Our membership is at a low price of £4 for Term 1 or £7 per year to ensure the society is accessible for all!

Academia

Mathsoc exists to provide its members with the best opportunities during and after your degree. We offer promotion and guidance of upcoming placements, internships and graduate opportunities, specifically tailored to maths students. We also host speakers throughout the year from relevant companies such as the Met Office, EY and Zurich. This year we are going the extra mile to provide academic support to our members through the launch of Mathsoc Digital, a networking platform where maths students can connect with industry professionals through work experience, placements and internships. 

Sports

You can also represent Mathsoc in a number of sporting capacities! Intramural opportunities exist in football, badminton, netball and more! Plus, the cost is minimal in comparison to the main sports clubs. Mathsoc teams are in place for all abilities, and intramural sport gives you the chance to play at a convenient time with your coursemates.
