ExMAB (Exeter Medtech & Biopharma) is a student society open to individuals from any academic background who are interested in pursuing a career within the business and innovation side of the healthcare sector, or anyone who is just keen to gain industry insight. Whether their goal is to work at a big pharma company, investment firm, or medtech startup, our membership will provide members with valuable resources to help them achieve their career goals.

Sectors of focus:

  • Medtech (Medical Technology) combines technology and healthcare to develop medical devices and technologies. It includes surgical instruments, diagnostic devices, imaging systems, prosthetics, wearables, and telemedicine tools.
  • Pharmaceuticals focus on the development, production, and commercialisation of chemically synthesised drugs. They cover a wide range of therapeutic areas and undergo extensive research, clinical trials, and regulatory processes to ensure their safety and efficacy.
  • Biotech (Biotechnology) applies biological processes, organisms, or systems to develop products and technologies. In healthcare, biotech uses genetic engineering, molecular biology, and advanced methods to create therapeutic drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics for various applications.
  • Healthtech (Healthcare Technology) combines healthcare and technology to improve the delivery and accessibility of healthcare services. It includes electronic health records, telemedicine platforms, medical software, health monitoring devices, AI in healthcare, and digital health solutions.
