Aims and Objectives:
- Provide the boards and the experience to teach people to skate for the first time.
- Provide a group that will make experienced skaters feel at home and keep up doing what they love.
- Keep up the environment of the society as it was when we found it. A bridge between subjects and year groups for everyone to get involved.
Welcome to Longboard Society! If you have never stepped on a longboard before or have skated your whole life, no matter, this is the place for you. We have two main aims; to meet new people to skate with and to help teach people the beautiful sport. We are not a professional bunch, we just love going skating and want as many people as possible to join us and to learn the trade.
What is Longboarding?
Longboarding is often referred to as surfing on land because the feeling and the skills acquired are so similar. Longboards are typically longer and wider than normal skateboards and are designed more for carving, sliding and racing rather than half pipes and bowls. Longboarding is easy to pick up and you can feel yourself improving really quickly each time you go out for a skate. We run one skate session per week on average (weather-dependant) as well as a few socials a month. We have a selection of boards to share between the group if you don't have your own, so don't worry about buying one!
What you get for signing up...
Access to boards and safety gear during our meet-ups.
Fun, laid-back socials!
The occasional out-of-exeter skate trip.
