About Us

Who are we?

The Hispanic Society is not simply the university's academic society for students of Spanish. Anyone from any background and language level, be it beginner or fluent, is welcome. Are you interested in Spanish or Latin American food and culture? Do you want to improve your language skills? Do you want to learn more about Spain as a country? If you answered yes to any of these questions then the Society could be a wonderful addition to your university life here at Exeter.

Why should you join our society?

We are a friendly, fun and educational society. We hold fortnightly socials and conversation classes, and will be collaborating with other language societies throughout the year - the highlight being the fantastic Modern Foreign Languages Ball. As a member of the Society, you can expect to see beach trips, tapas nights, clubbing events, sangria socials, and even a trip to Spain!

What are our aims for 2023-24?

  • Run fortnightly in-person socials that are inclusive and varied
  • Provide academic assistance for Spanish students and advice for year-abroad students
  • Focus on value for money membership, offering discounts and affordability
  • Provide a platform for people to engage in discussions concerning society, history and politics in contemporary Spain
  • Increase the number of joint socials the society offers, giving members a chance to meet people from all backgrounds

Who is on the committee?

  • Acting President - Pippa Bradshaw
  • Treasurer - Pablo Galbraith
  • Social Secretaries - Max Jolly & Charlee Rawlinson
  • Publicity Secretary - Ruby Milton

If you have any questions, contact us through any method on our linktree or email us at hispanic@groups.exeterguild.com
