The elected Head of Music will work alongside their co-head to plan, present and produce output for the station’s Music team. This has historically consisted of The Music Show (weekly panel coverage of set themes and music news), Beats & Bass (biweekly collaboration with Beats & Bass society) and Xpression Sessions (monthly student/local live lounge style performance), although this can be changed. They also work to update the station’s A & B lists, and promote these to members.

The Music team is responsible for organising the setup of the station’s annual 24 Hours Live event, a charity broadcast featuring student bands and performers on-air. This is the largest and most technically one-off show the station produces each year, and requires extensive planning.

The Heads of Music are also responsible for communicating with the Student Music Network (part of the SRA), who provide interview and press opportunities for emerging talent. They host XpressionFM’s contribution to the Student Radio Chart Show, an annual opportunity to host a professional style chart show. This includes the responsibility of ensuring the station is simulcasting the chart show stream from other stations each week.
