The Welfare & Diversity Secretary holds a fundamental position in safeguarding the wellbeing and inclusivity of the Exeter University Conservative Association.
Acting as the society's primary steward of culture and values, they ensure all members feel welcomed and supported during society events, while actively fostering an environment where everyone can participate fully in association activities.
They serve as a crucial bridge between the leadership committees and the wider membership, gathering feedback and implementing initiatives to enhance inclusivity. Through their commitment to professional development, including participation in Guild-provided welfare and EDI training, they maintain the expertise needed to appropriately direct members to University Wellbeing services when necessary. Their role is central to maintaining EUCA's positive reputation and ensuring it remains a welcoming space that upholds conservative values while embracing diversity (which is not in fact an old wooden ship).
- They are responsible, within reason, for the wellbeing of the society’s members at society events.
- They are responsible for upholding an inclusive environment, acting as a liaison between Committee or Executive Committee and wider society to help achieve this.
- They shall help to uphold the society’s reputation, acting as the primary responsible committee member for the culture EUCA promotes.
- They shall attend all Guild offered welfare and EDI training sessions.
- They shall signpost members to the relevant University Wellbeing services, if required.
