Main duties include:
- Approving society expenses
- Being the chief financial officer and accountant for the society.
- Setting and overseeing the annual budget and submit to the Students’ Guild if needed
- Ensuring that all members have purchased membership
- Corresponding with the towers on outings to arrange the appropriate donations
- Supporting the rest of the committee members in advertising society events, encouraging membership and organising socials and outings
What this role looks like:
Realistically, there is very little financial activity in the society, so this element of the role is fairly small. But you are still responsible for deciding if there is a membership fee (and if so, what it is), ensuring ringers buy membership, setting an annual budget to be approved by the Guild, and approving any expenses throughout the year. Mainly, you are there to support the rest of the committee in organising and running events throughout the year.
For all of the roles, there will be a period of handover where the current people in these roles teach you how to do them. So do not worry if you don't feel fully qualified to do every part of the role as we will be here to help! Especially with regards to communicating with the Guild, writing risk assessments/budgets and booking rooms, these are all things you are not expected to have previous knowledge of and will be taught how to do.
