- Being responsible for corresponding with the President and General Secretary of the ECG graduate alumni.
- Supporting the rest of the committee members in advertising society events, encouraging membership and organising socials and outings
What this role looks like:
Honestly, the idea for this role is to combine the typical admin jobs of the society with fun things like social and outing responsibilities, whilst also supporting the president and rest of committee. So, the GenSec is in charge of admin tasks such as writing risk assessments, booking rooms and communicating with the Guild (although they can do this in partnership with the President of course). They can also take a leading role in organising tower outings and socials like the Christmas meal. They should also support the rest of committee with things like advertising in Freshers Week, encouraging membership and organising events. They can especially support the president by filling gaps or giving advice where needed.
For all of the roles, there will be a period of handover where the current people in these roles teach you how to do them. So do not worry if you don't feel fully qualified to do every part of the role as we will be here to help! Especially with regards to communicating with the Guild, writing risk assessments/budgets and booking rooms, these are all things you are not expected to have previous knowledge of and will be taught how to do.
