About us

Exeter University Jazz Collective is the University's only fully auditioned Jazz and Funk society.

Consisting of three primary ensembles, the Exeter University Jazz Orchestra (EUJO), the Anything Goes Funk Band (AGFB), and the Small Band, Jazz Co plays a wide variety of professional gigs. In the past, these have included both University related events - such as society balls, conferences and graduation ceremonies - and private functions outside of the University, such as weddings, drinks receptions, public functions and local music festivals. We play a wide range of classic jazz standards, funk tunes, modern jazz and even some original charts composed by members past and present. Aims and Objectives:

• To have fun rehearsing and performing a wide range of music  
• To provide an environment in which players can challenge their musical abilities with a diverse jazz repertoire
• To ensure good balance of sound by auditioning members in order to achieve a 18 piece Jazz Band (with deps in case of absence), and an 12 piece Funk Band for tunes and styles outside of the traditional jazz repertoire.
• To perform regularly in front of members of the community, both student and otherwise 

How to join

Auditions for both bands will be held in Jukebox, Kay House from the 21st-23rd of September between 11am-4pm, and the sign-up document will be released on Friday 18th, after both taster sessions.
