About Us

Welcome to PhotoSoc!

Whether you are a professional photographer or you've only just picked up a camera for the first time, PhotoSoc is the place for you!

PhotoSoc is an inclusive club that welcomes all students with an interest in photography. As a society, we run regular trips, socials, walks, and workshops to introduce and improve the skills needed for digital and analogue photography. We also offer introductory sessions in our darkroom situated in Cornwall House. Most of our events are held weekly or fortnightly throughout the academic term, so there is always something happening for you to get involved in.

Through the society, we offer opportunities for experienced photographers seeking professional event work, as well as for photographers looking for event experience. With the society membership, you gain access to work (paid and voluntary) such as society balls, charity events, and sports games.

We hope to increase confidence in photography, as any and all levels of knowledge are welcome. Cameras aren’t needed; all we want is for people to arrive interested. We hope to foster a sense of community among university students with an eye for photography!

Membership Tiers:

The Standard PhotoSoc membership costs £10 and gives you access to the society's WhatsApp group and all walks, trips, and socials that occur during the academic year. As well as PhotoSoc’s socials, you will also have access to any and all events run by X-Media.

The Darkroom membership, £30, is a tier above. Offering the standard membership benefits as well as access to the Society’s darkroom (chemicals included), darkroom-specific workshops, and our digital and analogue camera borrowing scheme.

We hope to see you soon! Come say hi at our next event and meet fellow photography enthusiasts!
