Welcome to Exeter University Dance Society!

1. We aim to create a safe, welcoming, enjoyable, diverse and inclusive environment for all members of the society in our classes, teams and socials regardless of their ability, age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexuality or background.
2. We hope to provide our members and other attendees the opportunity to participate in both classes and socials which provide an opportunity to have fun, make friends and become more involved in our dance community.
3. We provide classes at both beginner and advanced levels, which help our members get out of their comfort zone, try something new and build their confidence not only in their dance ability but also in themselves.

If you are excited about dance then you have come to the right place. We run weekly dance classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Street, Commercial, Irish, and Dance Fitness. All our classes are taught by enthusiastic, talented student coaches who want to share their passion for dance with you. In 2020, the society came Runners-up in the Best Society Award, as well as being nominated for the Committee Excellence Award in 2023. We are so excited to welcome our new and returning members for another amazing and successful DanceSoc year! 

We will also be holding professional workshops in different styles throughout the year giving you the chance to learn from the best in the business.

Additionally, being a DanceSoc member will give you the chance to audition for our inter-university, national award-winning Competition Team (who in 2022 won the 'Best Team' Award at Surrey's Competition and had a record-breaking season in 2020 taking home 16 trophies) and our Performance Team (who dance at local events in and around Exeter).

Whether you're an advanced dancer with years of experience, just like dancing for a bit of fun, or want to try something new, our dance society is one of the friendliest, most welcoming and most enjoyable societies on Exeter campus so please don’t hesitate to come along! The fun and relaxed atmosphere of classes are perfect as a break from degree work whilst meeting lots of new like-minded people, alongside the great benefits of exercising.

Our socials are also great fun and a good opportunity to let your hair down and have a good night out with great people. Socials have included Christmas balls, beach trips, and nights out supporting our dancers!
