Exeter Poker Society

At Poker Society we welcome absolute beginners to experienced regulars. You do not have to be a pro to enjoy poker and win! We provide members with a social and chill environment keeping an element of friendly competition to play poker in. 

It’s a game that combines strategy/skill and an element of luck. A complete beginner at chess would have a hard time beating Magnus Carlson, but in poker it is possible to be new to the game and beat the very best players. 

Why Join Us?

• Weekly Thursday Tournaments - every Thursday, 6.30pm on campus 
• Annual Exeter Series of Poker (ESOP) - play in multiple tournaments, score points, and the overall points leader is crowned ESOP Champion and wins a bonus prize pot.
• Socials - casino nights and black-tie events (last year we teamed up with other societies, including Economics).
• Game mix - we play mostly Texas Hold’em, with other variations played occasionally depending on demand.

Membership & entry:

• Membership is just £5 per year.
• Our first event of the year - the Taster Tournament - is open to everyone and does not require membership. After that, membership is required to take part in tournaments.
