About Us

Action After Stroke is a project that meets twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays (10 am - 11 am) at the St. Luke's Sport Centre.

With the help of our volunteers, we provide a safe and supportive environment for our members to exercise in. The sessions involve a mix of light rehabilitation exercise and social support for up to 25 stroke patients who have progressed beyond what the NHS provides.

As a volunteer, your job is to offer gentle encouragement and support, keep an eye out for any possible trip hazards when moving around the gym, ensure the members are not exerting themselves too much - and to just relax and have a chat!

Volunteers and members are matched up at the start of each session, either one-on-one or in small groups. You can be studying any subject and no experience is required, although you must complete an Adult DBS check upon joining.

A DBS CHECK IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT
