About Us

Teddy Bear Hospital is a project aiming to teach children in primary schools about the basic medical equipment used in hospitals. The children will bring their own teddy bears so that they can treat them as “doctors” by using props to imitate equipment such as X-rays, electro-cardiograms and blood pressure monitors. As volunteers, we will raise awareness about the things a patient may go through during their visit to hospital, so that we can reduce the fear and anxiety children may experience when visiting the hospital. We also hope to inspire children to become medical professionals in the future!

We visit several schools in Exeter and the dates will be posted on our Facebook group.

Volunteers can choose when they want to help, and the sessions will usually run for an hour. No medical knowledge is needed, however, a DBS that covers working with children is required and training must be attended.
