Are you interested in the fast-paced world of emergency medicine or the precision of anaesthetics? Do you thrive in high-pressure situations, or want to understand how healthcare professionals make life-saving decisions in complex settings? Whether you're just starting medical school or considering a future career in acute specialities, the Exeter Acute Care and Anaesthetics Society (EACAS) is here to support, inspire, and guide you in accessing fantastic opportunities to bring you closer to acute specialisms.
What We're About
We're a society passionate about promoting careers in anaesthetics, acute care, and emergency medicine. These specialities lie at the heart of hospital and pre-hospital medicine and are dynamic, diverse, and critically important to patient outcomes. Our aim is to show you just how exciting and rewarding a career in these fields can be and allow you to realise opportunities in acute and pre-hospital care even during your time at medical school.
Our Core Aims:
Inspire future careers and research:
We run regular events focused on anaesthetics, emergency medicine, and critical care, where you can hear from inspiring clinicians, get involved in student-led research, and explore potential career paths within your area of interest.
Boost your clinical confidence:
Our high-yield teaching sessions are designed to enhance learning in acute medicine, from managing medical emergencies to understanding airway management and beyond. Whether you're prepping for OSCEs, cramming for an AMK or just keen to learn, we look forward to supporting you.
Connect you with real-world opportunities:
We actively encourage members to attend local and national acute, critical care and anaesthetics events. This year, we are preparing an exciting calendar of activities that all members can get involved in, from attending the fifth annual acute care conference, training with Festival Medical Services, various volunteering initiatives and more. It's our goal to be a fantastic gateway to assist you in networking, building your CV, and allowing you to realise new opportunities throughout the year.
