Society Description
Despite unfortunately disbanded due to the committee being busy with exams and internships towards the end of last academic year, 2/4 committee members still carry the passion to keep this going, especially as we are invited by another university to compete in their annual Public Speaking Competition. As both of us have transferred to the integrated Masters course, we are confident to keep this society running until at least 25/26, before a handover of power happens after hopefully growing this society even bigger than previous years.
Aims:
Our main goal is to bridge the gap between shy students and societies that are often perceived as intimidating, providing a non-judgmental space where individuals can learn and improve their public speaking skills.
Objectives:
Establish a truly non-judgmental environment where students feel encourgaed to experiment with different public speaking skills without fear of criticism from committee and participating students of the event, given that there is no winning or losing in our workshops
Offer interactive workshops, practical exercises, and peer feedback to enhance skills such as articulation, audience engagement, and persuasive communication.
Collaborate with other societies to share the skills and how we learnt them to members of the other societies.
Act as a stepping stone for shy students to gain the confidence needed to speak publicly in larger settings e.g. activities at Debating or Law Society
